The articles featured in this issue underpin the pivotal role of epidemiology in gastroenterology. First is an analysis of patients referred to the gastroenterology service of a University Teaching Hospital in Southwestern Nigeria. In that paper, Hepatitis B Virus infection and Dyspepsia were the commonest reasons for gastroenterology consultation. In the same vein, the second article deals with knowledge of Hepatitis B virus and vaccination uptake among hospital workers in Southwestern Nigeria while the third paper is a country-wide population study of uninvestigated dyspepsia in Nigeria.
The Nigerian Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, is a bi-annual publication of the Society for Gastroenterology and Hepatology in Nigeria (SOGHIN), which publishes original research on the biology and diseases of the Gut, Liver, Pancreas, Peritoneum and Spleen both in humans and experimental animal models.
